5 Minute Friday {growing}

5 Minute Friday {growing}

Growing…

I think of growing up as a missionary kid in South America and how thankful I am for all the adventures, good and bad, that have grown me into the person I am today.

I think of the garden that mom and I just planted and how exciting it is to see it grow… tiny seeds that burst forth with life and push their way  from the dark into the sunshine.

I think of my husband and I as young new parents, having to quickly grow up quickly alongside our daughters.

I think of our family growing in numbers this year and how much love grows in a heart when God blesses ordinary lives with grandchildren… timy ones fresh from God bringing sunshine to our days.

I think of my growth as a woman. Some days I feel like that little seed in the ground and other days I feel like the sweet pea vine reaching for the sky and putting on blooms.

May the growing years never stop and may we never stop growing in the grace of God.

5 Minute Friday {beauty}

5 Minute Friday {beauty}

::START::

Finding beauty in my everyday life is something I have learned to do often. Especially with my camera in tow. God’s beauty is everywhere. But there is another kind of beauty.

Beauty is as beauty does…

Beauty is a young wife and mother making a jungle house a home.

Beauty is a man willing to risk his life so that others can hear the good news.

Beauty is being lost and then found.

Beauty is giving of yourself for others.

Beauty is a smile that encourages.

Beauty is forgiveness freely given.

Beauty is a young mother nurture her son,

Beauty is grace in waiting.

Beauty is a spontaneous dinner with friends.

Beauty is the privilege to be a child of God.

Beauty is as beauty does.

5 Minute Friday {whole}

5 Minute Friday {whole}

Gypsy Mama’s challenge
write for 5 minutes
no rules
no editing
no worries
just do it!

::START::

Whole.
The whole story.
The whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.

That about says it doesn’t it? We are broken. The world is broken.

But the whole story plain and simple is that God sent His Son, Jesus to earth to save us, to make us whole. To take our broken pieces upon Himself on the cross so that we could be made whole.

And that’s the truth plain and simple. The whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Being made whole in Jesus Christ is a beautiful thing.

5 Minute Friday {still}

5 Minute Friday {still}

Today I am linking up with Gypsy Mama in the Five Minute Friday Challenge over at {in}courage. Today’s challenge is to take five short minutes to just write and then leave it be… no editing, no re-thinking it. Just writing for the love of it, for the love of written words, to become Word Artist. So here goes…

::START::

I can get lost in a project, a good book, on pinterest, in my thoughts.

So I bought a timer. A pretty yellow timer to motivate the discipline the use of time.

Oh how I need the discipline of a timer. I need to be reminded to take time to be still.

To be still and know that He is God.To know that He is for me, not against me.

To still my eyes away from the computer screen and look at His creation He made for me outside my window.

To still my thoughts and take the advice of a wise man who said, “If I can stay calm, faithful and unconfused while in the middle of the turmoil of life, the goal of the purpose of God is being fulfilled in my life.” {Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, July 28}

It’s not easy for me to be still. But it is necessary and something I am nuturing.
